Meet the Makers: Our Pakistan Atelier
“Made in Pakistan” is printed on every ZOR label because we are proud of it. Pakistan is one of the world's long-established centres for knit and technical textiles, and we decided to build ZOR at source, for customers at home.
This is a look at how that works, and why it matters for the piece you are wearing.
Made at source, not through middlemen
Many clothing brands never meet the people who make their products. Orders pass through trading houses and agents, each adding a margin and each putting a little more distance between the design and the finished garment.
ZOR works directly with the facility that makes our garments. That one decision shapes everything else.
- Fewer hands in between. With fewer margins stacked between the mill and you, more of what you pay goes into the fabric and construction.
- Tighter quality control. We see the product at every stage, from knit to cut to finished seam, and can reject and remake rather than ship a compromise.
- Faster iteration. Being close to production lets us adjust a fit or a fabric weight in weeks, not seasons.
- A fairer share of value. More of the value stays with the people who actually make the product.
From knit to finished seam
A ZOR piece passes through three stages, and we check each one.
1. The knit
Everything starts with fabric. We build from a short, deliberate set of technical knits rather than chasing a new material every season. Each is chosen for a specific job:
- Mesh for airflow, used where you heat up fastest.
- Polyester knits for lightweight, quick-drying tees, such as our Origin Tee.
- Nylon blends for a smooth, durable hand-feel.
- Microstretch for compression and recovery, the fabric behind pieces like the ESSENTIAL Trouser.
Our training pieces use four-way stretch, so the fabric moves with you in every direction.
2. The cut
Patterns are cut for movement, not just for standing still in a fitting room. Every product page includes fit notes and a size guide, plus a size finder that uses your height and weight, so you can choose with confidence.
3. The seam
Finishing is where cheap activewear gives itself away: seams that twist, waistbands that roll and colour that fades after a few washes. Because we see the garments at this stage, anything that is not right goes back.
Tested, not just claimed
“Squat-proof” is easy to print on a tag. We would rather test it. Leggings and bottoms are checked for opacity under stretch, because the moment you are not sure is the moment you stop thinking about your workout. Our goal is simple: activewear that disappears the moment you start training. No riding up, no seeing through, and no compromise by the third wash.
